There were some great games in the Opens for Round 8. After a stellar effort and a win in the last quarter, Stingrays just can’t seem to come away with another win, going down by just five goals to Fury in third place. We knew Sparks and Hawks was going to be a tight contest and it did not disappoint. The crowd was loud with the score to-ing and fro-ing throughout the last quarter, however it was the Hawks who came out on top by just one goal. The last five minutes of the contest between Sapphires and Blaze had everyone on the edge of their seats, with both teams playing hard until the final whistle finishing in a draw. United and Heart both walked away with great wins.

The U23s were not going to let the Opens have all the glory. The top two appeared to be locked away heading into Round 8 this week. Hawks in eighth place took on the undefeated Sparks. An intense match-up that went goal for goal for the majority of the game, no one could comfortably say they were in the lead. Hawks managed to get in front capitalising on a few turnovers in the final minutes, taking the win after a tremendous effort. Central Coast Heart were looking to join the winners circles this week and after a tightly contested match they took home their first win for the season by just two goals against Spirit. Stingrays, United and Blaze all locked away another win.
